The easiest way to fix it is your gonna have to go through one of the title companies that specialize in this. Every once in awhile there are some advertisements in Hemmings Motor News. There is a company in Alabama called Broadway Title Co. ( I have used this company with good luck ) and there is a company in New York that does this sort of thing. With Broadway Title the way it works is they will send you forms to fill out and Notorize. One of the things you must swear under oath is that vehicle is not stolen. The way it is done on paper you sell the vehicle to a person at the title company, they get an Alabama registration and transfer the registration to your name which in Alabama also serves as a title. You now have an Alabama registration in your name with the proper VIN etc. that shows you own the vehicle. You send this in to your dept. of Motor Vehicles and you get a new title issued from your home state. It's gonna cost probably in $150.00 neighbor hood just for the Title Co.'s paperwork plus notorary fees and what ever Ill. charges for there fees. I live in Pa. and they just won't issue you a title period if you don't have a title to begin with. You can have all the Bill of Sales etc. you want for a vehicle but without a title from another state etc. you ain't getting a title from Pa. I've got the address somewhere for Broadway Title Co. but I just can't find it now. Hope this helps
