I have a GMC/Isuzu tilt cab, a 94 and It has the Chevy 350 and GM OD auto trans in it. I love it. It handles easier then some long small trucks I've had. I have a 15ft bed and ramps, not really long enough for some vehicles, but I had an M670 on it once. That's a 7500 lb. tractor. Truck weighs about 7000 itself. Biggest problem is bed is kinda high, harder to load non running rigs. I try to park in a ditch or low spot to load most times. Mileage is only 8 to 10 reg driving, and I get 12 on highways. Deisels will do better.
Myself, will reccomend a tag along trailer with a heavy pickup instead. No big license to buy and not need most of year and lower to ground. Get the "Deck Over" type, that has the deck over the tires/wheels and is much wider than car haulers. Car haulers are not wide enough for tractors, specially with big wide tires. You'll need a 90" deck or so to haul them. Most flatbed trucks are wide enough. One of those Hodges beds, with slant back starting at axle and going to back end are real nice. They have tool boxes underneath and are real low to load on. You can find them on 1-ton chassis, be a little cheaper. Check truck sites for books of trucks for sale, some are free in the Lounge of stops.
