The block heater might also be the type that uses an expanding wing nut type device on the back, similar to picture hanger for drywall, If this is stripped, you'll have to get a new block heater as they don't sell parts, it might still be inside the water jacket. To slip the heater back in place either way, lube the o ring with silicone lube, don't use petroleum base lube, (will ruin the O-ring). Or ask yourself if you need a block heater where you live, and maybe replace it with a standard core plug of steel. John in Ne.
