It might be good to look into the legal aspects first. Will you need to be licensed and bonded and insured in thge area you will operate in? Those costs might answer your questions of profitability. I don't know how AAA pays, but I think wreckers try to act busy when AAA calls for a wrecker, and the last one called gets the tow. If I had to guess at profitability I would either tow for myself to haul junk cars to recycle, or do repossessing for a company. Just guessing, you might find towing at a car auction, either towing cars there, or delivering sold cars.
