If it were me I would keep this truck original. You can hop it up all you want, and not have much performance to show for it. That is a heavy all steel truck, with a power to weight ratio that will be hard to overcome. Also it will never be worth a fraction of the cost of hopping it up. My grand dad had two 48's a 1/2 and a 3/4 ton. They really had style back then,with the chrome, and the good lines,all in a work horse farm truck.
I have found a 48 or 49 probably KB5 sitting back behind an old barn, and am going to see the land owners to see if we can make a deal. If I get it I'm going rock stock all the way, and I'll pull it home with my B67 Mack that I'm in the process of putting Back to stock tractor from a road oil tanker. But hey,good luck what ever you do.
